The only video games I play are video games I enjoy playing. The last couple days I had off I was playing Pacific Drive. It's neat.

Well I just played Monster Hunter World but the newest I've started and continued is Death Stranding 2

I've been playing that new edgy Pac-Man metroidvania and while the majority of the game is an uninspired mess of tropes that the genre is riddled with, the actual Pac-Man levels had me smiling and replaying them over and over to get better scores.
So that small portion of Shadow Labyrinth, if it counts. A shame it took 10 hours to unlock them.

I'm actually currently enjoying Guild Wars 2 quite a bit. I'm not normally a big MMO guy, but its basically just a 500 hour long RPG to me. I've heard the story takes a nosedive around End of Dragons or maybe earlier, but I'm just getting to Path of Fire now. The game does such a good job of showing you that you're fighting world ending threats. Way better than most single player games, since you have the constant map/meta events going on.
I also like the horizontal progression. Again, no MMO guy, but its nice to know that unlocking shit for one character means the rest don't need to do it again, and that gear is good forever.

The Shinobi demo really is stupendous

Totally feel you. FC4 had such a strong start - the intro with Pagan Min was kino - but it quickly devolved into checklist boredom. Outposts were fun at first but by Act 3 it was just rinse and repeat. If they’d added meaningful choices or actual impact from siding with Amita or Sabal, it could've been something special instead of Ubisoft map vomit #47.

I've been enjoying going back to Command and Conquer 3: Kane's Wrath. I never got around to playing it when it was new. Mainly because the campaign in 3 base was hard as fuck, and EA went and made it harder with a patch.

Give it some story choices that affect gameplay or at least the overworld.
Make the guns for hire specialist squads.
Make the Shangri-La banner pieces make animals more friendly.
Just some added soul.

I played Jump King Quest yesterday and I managed to actually find a couple players online. It was a party of 2 players and I took the opportunity to do PvP with them. It was a breeze for me, I suppose they were new players since I only lost once while they got killed by me about 5 times even though I wasn't using zone-appropriate gear and wasn't overleveled. They disconnected after that and I hope I didn't discourage them from playing.

Eh...it is not like the originals, I was playing Shadow Dancer and Shinobi 3 which are faster and cut straight into the action. The new one is just a run of the mill metroidvania with some member berries BUT it is a very well done metroidvania regardless with a few parts inspired by N+ / Super Meat Boy.

Now this is peculiar but the illusion of depth for the background is better in the original genesis games than in the new one. I do like the art but Blasphemous, Bloodstained, Ragebound, The Lost Prince of Persia and Shinobi are pretty much the same game.
