It's all so tiresome

That’s literally the Ruy Lopez, one of the most popular openings in chess history. It’s “tiresome” because you’re walking straight into well-studied theory, nothing unusual is happening yet. If you want to spice it up, you can deviate earlier (like 3…Nf6 for a Berlin, or even toss in something like the Schliemann with 3…f5). Otherwise buckle up, because you’re heading into dozens of moves worth of book-knowledge lines.
So yeah, if standard openers feel dull, look at offbeat responses instead, way less charted territory and more room to actually play instead of reciting memorized moves.

chess will never be solved unless all of earth works on it and gets astronomically lucky before the end of humanity. and even then, it would be weakly solved.
