8 years. Gen 2 gave us what are still some of the strongest bug types in the franchise, Gen 3 and 4 shit all over the bug type and gave us almost nothing but shitty fodder mons and dex padding.

Gens 2, 5, and 7 were really good for bugs.
Gens 1, 3, 8 and 9 were mixed bags but all had at least 1 good bug type or at least a few bugs with neat gimmicks.
Gen 4 bugs and Gen 6 singular bug lmao

dude for real. Scolipede, Galvantula, Crustle, Durant. the bug guys were going crazy hard that gen.
shell smash was kino.
the little poof of dust when scolipede comes out because it's so heavy was kino.
and then they whipped out the conkeldurr line, the ice cream cones, the piles of trash, and the hitmon copies

I always liked Dwebble more than Crustle. You could argue that Dwebble looks too much like a hermit crab so the gimmick is wasted, but Crustle feels like it goes too hard in the opposite direction. Maybe it could've been a single stage line and one of them is simply erased, but unnecessary evolutions are a recurring element in BW. Anyway, I like Dwebble.
