I think the problem is Star Wars fatigue among the public and Ubisoft's messy development system. The teams in charge of R6 and For Honor are doing well, and it seems that Ubi isn't meddling too much in those games, but in these high-profile games, especially outsourced ones, they have all kinds of problems. Remember that Marvel prevented Capcom from using X-Men characters in MVCI.

Why was the game bad? Because it's Ubislop.
There's some talent at Ubisoft and they have the capacity to make good games, but instead they waste their talents ton big, open-world slop. Trying to make each game bigger and bigger, including more and more content that's half-baked, instead of picking a few elements and polishing them to perfection. Combat? It's fine. The world design? Fine. Exploration? Fine. Each individual element of it is fine. They all work, more or less.
Is any of it GREAT? Absolutely not. This isn't going to be anybody's favorite game. Nobody is going to be talking about this game in 20 years. It's built, top-to-bottom, as a palatable product for the general public. Designed to be played as long as possible so CEOs can take the playtime numbers to their shareholders and pretend it's a success.

Why is the main character ugly? Massive are terrible at human models. Especially females. Look at the Division. Not a single good-looking female character in the game.
They also just use the face-scan as a starting point for their character then add all their little 'details' like the crooked, broken nose, cleft chin, bad haircut. Whereas someone like Kojima worships these actors and wants them recreated as 1:1 as possible. I genuinely don't think that they set out to make her purposely 'ugly' as some sort of protest, or to own chuds, 'avert the male gaze', etc. I think it's really just a mix of technical incompetence + wanting to make the character their own.

With that said, Humberly Gonzalez is qt and the game would have automatically been better if they just replicated her 1:1.

Everyone loves Han Solo, and a game where you could do what you described as him would have sold 100x more copies. 50 years on, Han is still one of the most suave and badass characters in existence. idk I played the demo, it was pretty fucking great, I'm finishing Jedi Survivor and then I'll either wait for Outlaws to go on sale or buy it from G2A

I like it. While it is generic Ubisoft open world slop, it does provide a nice atmosphere for fans of the series. The locations, clutter, audio design, and visuals are nice and it is just generally quite a nice open Star Wars world to explore. Some of the mechanics are kind of fun. It does get old after about 30 hours though. I'd say it's about as good as Hogwarts Legacy, i.e. not very good, but enjoyable enough if you're a fan of the IP and worth picking up on discount. And Kay is actually kinda cute without the glam rock hair cut.
