This game is the antithesis to Void Stranger. Both titles are essentially modern takes on the "retro" genre, and UFO 50 attempts to make the "treasure hunting" of thrift store finds into a game, while VS just aims to make one really good game.
The majority of the titles in UFO 50 are shit. Some of them are alright, but all of the good ones could've used longer in the oven, they are mostly half baked. The standout title is Mini and Max for me, and I wish there was more of it. In UFO 50 you play games you don't really enjoy for the sake of the cheevos, and while this occasionally leads to some fun you weren't expecting to have, a lot of it is just a slog. Good games don't need to trick you into playing them, they're just good. I gave up on UFO 50 after probably around 40 hours, with maybe half the games cherried, because I had mostly ran out of games I enjoyed playing. VS, lasted 60 hours and I enjoyed the majority of that time, unprompted by cheevo hunting.

Whoa now, buckeroo. I'll semi-concede with you on some points. The default settings in sandbox and some of the modes really don't make well for new players. But you setup sandbox a certain way like I did, and it becomes a time sink.

The gameplay in all of these was so fucking bad, I don't care if they're "kino" give me good fucking controls and satisfying levels.
I did play Pseudoregalia and Blaster Master Zero trilogy on v's recommendations and those games were very, very good.

It's not awful, but I didn't care much for SMT 3 after playing until a little after the matador fight, where I got bored and quit. Random encounters were always my least favorite game mechanic, and Demifiend having to do most of the fucking work makes battles feel samey FAST. Turn based RPGs are THE most overrated game genre. The only good ones completely subvert the gameplay and are hardly Dragon-quest style games at all, like Superstar Saga or Chrono Trigger.
