You do realize the game is riddled with shortcuts, right? Kokiri has warps to both zora's domain and Goron city, and you can go from zora's domain to lake hylia too. Hell, going from goron city to kakariko is pretty fast just by jumping down the mountain. Not to mention all the warps you get as an adult.

you dont have the shortcuts until you have already been there though
i guess they are useful for if you save the game and respawn at your house but otherwise you will be done at the location in one go until you come back as adult link and get the fast travel
