What was the worst year for gaming? I mean both AAA and indie games. Which year had most dissapointments, overrated slops and shitty trends?

Going off GOTY nominations, you have some stinkers to pick from.
2014:
>Hearthstone
>Dark Souls 2
>Dragon Age
>Shadow of Mordor
>Bayo 2
2016:
>Overwatch
>Doom
>Inside
>Titanfall 2
>Uncharted 4
2021:
>It Takes Two
>Deathloop
>Ratchet and Clank
>RE8
>Metroid Dread

Going off Famitsu scores, 2021 and 2024 were the ONLY two years since 1995 where ZERO games got a perfect or near-perfect score.
And there were some other weak years:
>2002's only near-perfect game was Resident Evil 1's Gamecube port
>2007's only near-perfect was Phantom Hourglass
>2014's only near-perfect was Yakuza Ishin

2021 easily, covid prevented anything substantial from releasing. I could see the argument for 2014 since it didn't have the pandemic as an excuse.

1973, without a doubt
>buy an $800 console
>only four new games release for it
>two of them are trivia games
>one is a 1:1 copy of a game released the year before on the same console
>next year they release a new console that's just a better version of the one you just bought
>no backwards compatibility

It has to be around 2011. All modern problems in gaming can be traced here. Hollow Knight? nu-Zelda?
>Limbo, Plants vs Zombies
>Skyward Sword (no one liked it)
This showed that you could hype anything even flash-tier fotms and mobileslop and people would eat up if it was indie. This would flood the steam catalog. Looks like no one liked the AA either.
