Chunk mining for sure, i used to do that a ton back when i played minecraft religiously, it was my go-to game to zone out to and i often got lost in the rhythm of it. plus its fun to build houses underground.

Cave or branch mining, but if you branch mine you were supposed to do 6 apart. I know this seems really counterintuitive but I assure you there's a lot of complicated math that I didn't understand as to why this was the optimal way to do things.

its the size of ore veins.

Nah, chunk mining has its place, specifically when you need copious amounts of non-rare materials.
Anonymous No.718998212
>>718997994
Yeah, something like it was the right spacing to discover new ore veins. The problem with 3 apart tunnels is that while you do uncover everything, that ends up being less efficient than seeing more new veins, even if you do miss some ore by spacing the tunnels further apart. It was something like that, I think.

in nu-minecraft if you get the right enchants and potions diving into holes in the seafloor can unironically yield a ton of shit. night vision and water breathing potions + whatever makes underwater mining faster

the real question is, do you make staircase shafts only as tall as you need, or make them an extra block taller so you don't bump your head when going down?
Anonymous No.719000560
>>718999615
The fastest way to do things is to drop down, but that's kinda boring to do all the time, though it can be cool to have a drop with water tunnels on the side leaning into rooms stacked on top of each other. Works great for storage, but that's more utilitarian than pretty. I've played the game enough that most of the fun I have is in making things look really pretty so I'll make elegant diagonal staircases with extensive slab work, and of course you'd never bump your head in any of my designs.

I'm currently stripmining a 1000x500 chunk, because I want a chest full of diamonds. I also dug a 64x64 chunk all te way, all rhe diamonds I got from there were used to dig it all, not worth it.
My doctor says I'm don't have autism, shut up.

Strip mining is a shit way to get diamonds, anon. Branch mine or cave. Cave would best for durability, hard to say which would give you the chest full of diamonds faster as a result.
