I know this is /v/ and all, but this doesn't tell us all that much.
This is just "a" writer, not the lead writer of Veilguard. So no telling how much control over the overall writing they had beyond their own input, which would be tailored to fit by the demands of the entire team.

So we don't have enough info to tell whether this is actually good or bad/ Not like Bethesda has stellar writing or quests to begin with (with a few exceptions for some pre-Skyrim quests)

This is a good thing, bethesda has always needed better writers with more serious chops and them hiring writers shows that they are serious about tackling their shitty narrative problem. If they can get the guy writing a moral questline like the genophage in ME2 doing something interesting then TESVI is in good hands.

Dan Abnett, whose written for everything, from comics, to movies, short stories, videogame plots etc. Primarily he's written for the black library with GW, 40k in particular.

His novels are some of the very best they ever produced, and many of his subtle universe-filler ideas, the links and building blocks that make his stories make coherent sense, became lore and was entered into codexes and used as in other novels by other authors. Hell, some of the major crusades he made up entirely in his head to provide the background for a story, became entire mini-universes other authors wrote stories in. Many of his books are among my all-time favourite novels.

His influence on 40k is immense, beyond the work of even the codex writers themselves. And HE'S fallen off now, because of the pressure to adhere to DEIversity box ticking and woke agendas, and his works have suffered badly in the last 4 years as a result.

If HE can fall, and fail to produce good works, anyone can.
