Falcom gave 10 times the length of the usual script for a jrpg for the same price as any other normal jrpg game. Sky FC had enough content that it was basically enforced legal slavery for Xsneed to work on it. If it was anyone else they could and would have delievered nothing, but xsneed was new and unproven so they suffered through it and delivered something great out of that adversity, Even in SC they turned around and tried to scam crapfulger after falcom scammed them because the fans wanted the sequal even though Xsneed still didn't want to put their dick back in the beehive for anyone.

But after crapfulger shat the bed and xsneed had no choice due to their contract to also deliver the game they delivered it and continued to deliver pretty decent localizations. I wouldn't call them perfect. But a lot of changes they made are for the better. People want to call it vandalism but I don't think these people are sincere, theyre just mad because there are ACTUAL vandals out there destroying japanese games

TL:DR LOTS of projects that rely on teams do not know ahead of time every detail on a project. There's no master vision outside the game director and if the game has one, writing director. Gen urobuchi of saya and meguca fame thought of walpurgasnacht as a big dumb kaiju. There are tons of aspects of that property that where done completely by non writers like inucurry. Are they vandals too? Is harrison ford a vandal for saying I know instead of I love you? Does pottery rhyme? Ultimately the xsneed translation was unbelievable quality for the price. Anyone who says a bad word about it other than "I'd still prefer the original even if estelle sounds like cartmans mom" has no idea what theyre talking about.

It's pretty funny seeing the arc of anime and anime media in the west slowly turn towards just accepting that it's good and people like it and you really don't have to mess with it.

We went from rewrites like robotechs "we need to pretend it's just a normal cartoon!" to 4kids "think of the children! they wont understand!" to localization "well we need to punch it up! it's too dry! it's nuanced!" and literally every time they eventually give up and slowly diminish their role and presence. You know what the real most soulful translation moment was? Eternal Quest for the Ps2.
It was a localisation of a Simple 2000 series games that was loosely based on Mystery Dungeon.
The character width doesn't allow for all names to be translated (everything is labelled "grass" until you see the description whereas in JP it's vampire grass in the menu) but the equipment had an issues. It's written diabolo style where it's X('s)/ Y / Z. Like King's Cloud Sword. Obvious you can fit this in 3-4 characters in JP but jot in English, so they had stock images with a scroll filter overe them. The manual then grouped the images by their effect so you could see what the item was/did.
So you'd pick up an item named: [picture of a crown] / [picture of clouds] / [picture of a long sword] and you'd know its a King's cloud sword and it no special properties.
Its really soulful and once you learn what does what you barely need to check the manual. Things are pretty much clearly grouped.
It's really cool for such a dogshit game.

I'm not fluent in Elevenese but I at least know enough to know when what I'm reading and what I'm hearing aren't the same and as someone who was in the top English class and had an old crone who'd ensure the hammer came down HARD on those who didn't live up to expectations, I HATE when people try and replace words in the script to make it sound less "generic" but end up going down the rabbit hole of synonyms to the point where the original meaning and nuance of a line are completely different.
A localization should only resort to unfaithful translations when there's an issue with the translation itself, such as an untranslatable joke.

The demake is being edited by AI since gungho are literally parasites chosen because falcom gets the bigger share of profits, and they only thing they touch up themselves is removing any sexism/stuff which might piss off wokies.
This is the one case where it's okay to shit on the new translation, since it's probably done by trannies, women or worse, jeets.
Literal translations that are close to the original Japanese are an improvement 100% of the time when the translators are American trannies or women, but Sky's was done in the 2000s when they didn't work those jobs. In this case I side with the original scripting giving the characters more personality over gungho's censored and AI sloppified translation.
