The "PS3-era" was the worst period for JRPGs in history. Dogshit Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest didn't even try, Persona 5 was basically treated as a PS4 game despite releasing on the PS3. Loads of low quality asset rips and shallow fanservice like Neptunia and Atelier. The fucking 360 had better JRPGs and the ones that got ported to PS3 actually ran worse.
So marketing your game as "PS3-era JRPG throwback" actually tells me to never try it.

What do you mean? I have it wishlisted and there is no reason to be hyped because furyu is very hit or miss. It will be either Crymachina kino or total slop like Caligula 2. Or it will be something in the middle like Monark. OR they just bring out some completely censored trash like Reynatis. You see my point? I have been following Varlet for a while now, especially because i like bishounen protags and Ema looks like a babe, but it really really depends on how good furyu can play to their strengths and fix their past weaknesses. No worries about the soundtrack or character design. I actually liked the combat systems in Caligula 2 and Monark; furyu keeps it traditional but always with a twist. It is obvious that the go for a Persona-esque setting and systems in this ome again, i just hope it can be more grown-up and with better romance than in their past games (Caligula). In terms of story? Well, i only really liked their Cry games in that regard so i do not have super high hopes for that so if they just give an enjoyable battlesystem with interesting characters to interact with in a fulfilling manner, then i can stomach another 6/10 HS edgelord no substance tropewalker. Actually, just make more yuri games, they are clearly your best games so far. A turn-based game with a fem protag and a set love interest, as well as some other girls that are side-couples. Slap a good soundtrack, proper battle-system and a bit of fanservice in design and you have a good one. Basically Crymachina but turn-based.

The best version of Nier is locked to the 360
Valkyria Chronicles was the only thing unique that came from that system and people only started to care when it got ported to PS3.

yeah i never got through CE2, dropped off pretty early. JRPGs tend to have slow starts, but that was a real marathon crawl. cool battle system though.
