BG3 is great, dnd 5e not so much. You can't really choose if you want a good PC RPG, but if you want to play TTRPGs you can use any system you want. Personally I'd recommend The Riddle of Steel for realism, Exalted for crazy fantasy and Lancer for scifi.

I've thought about this. Split dex in to dex and agi. Dex handles ranged and finesse attacks and sleight of hand. Agi handles ac bonus, sneak, acrobatics and initiative. Keep the same amount of AS points.

Third edition fundamentally has all the same problems that 5e has. 4e is the only edition of DND worth playing (it has different issues but fixes most of the really egregious ones) because 2e and AD&D have been superseded by modern OSR like ACK. The only people who suck 3e's dick are fake grogs who probably don't even play games other than DND/Pathfinder.

God the writing in BG3 is bad. It has big theatre kid energy. Everything is on the nose. Every trope is hit. Everything is generic and bland high fantasy bullshit.

On top of that the tutorial is absolute ass if you are unfamiliar with D&D. Certain concepts are beaten into the absolute ground while important mechanics are just left at “lol you’ll figure it out”.

In what context? As a system 5E is fine, albeit watered down significantly compared to other TTRPGs. As an entry-level TTRPG for normies and noobs it is fine. The recent worldbuilding efforts done by WotC in the quest for diversity and faggotry is extremely lame, however. That being said, all that can be avoided if you just play a homebrew setting or with your friends, and not with randoms you've found online or at an LGS (unless you've very thoroughly screened the group before playing)
