What is the best modern/recent Space 4X and why?

Whats the best way to learn how to play Stellaris? I tried playing it a couple of months ago and the tutorials confused me. I looked up guides but turns out they updated the game to 4.0 which changed a lot.

I like Gal Civ 4 mainly because it plays the closest to Sid Meier's Civilization.

Interstellar Space Genesis, maybe Distant Worlds or Star Ruler 2 if we're going to stretch the definition of "modern". Space 4x games are bad.
