I agree with every line you wrote, but there are still excellent modern games being made. If you had a better GPU/monitor you’d appreciate them more.
Black Souls, Pikmin 4, Lies of P, Exp 33, Blue Prince, I’ve had tons of fun with modern games. Especially emulating Switch games in 4k. I think I’ll emulate Unicorn Overlord today.
