The current value of the Switch 2 is shit (in my opinion). I've been unimpressed with this company for the past decade, so it's going to take some effort to bring me back.

Biggest problems are the price point and the fact that all new games are competing with my knowledge of previous games. The new stuff simply isn't good enough to justify the purchase.

This has nothing to do with Xenoblade itself, we just don't have access to the source code to properly unbind the game's physics from the framerate. Breath of the Wild suffered from that problem long after it was considered "fully playable" in 60fps, but the developers could mitigate those issues with relative ease.

I think so many games using DRS has resulted in plenty of switch 1 games running locked at their intended frame rates, bayonetta 3, LA noire and hyrule warriors in particular run how they were always meant to, but there's so many games out there that locked specifically to 30fps and lowballed the DSR to 720p that they're really needing just quick updates to unlock and things would run smoother. Based on what metric? Nintendo likes to pretend their old games are worth a premium, but normalfags don't actually like playing retro games, especially from the lineup we're talking about. The obvious route for optiomization is to add DLSS for the Switch 2. But that puts From on the bad side of Valve and the other consoles because they can't into DLSS. So, they would have to add FSR as well, which is a problem because FSR is contantly getting updated, and thus any version of FSR they add will end up being the "wrong" one, garnering tons of negative vibes from the AMD camp, calls to open the engine up to custom modding so everyone can add their own favorite version of FSR, ReShade, whatever. So now From is on the hook to constantly update the engine with whatever new thing AMD is putting out. AND, what they get in return for doing this is constant conspiracy theories from AMDrones that from is trying to make AMD "look bad" because they won't add this new version that just dropped last Monday, and on and on.

That's really the problem. Nvidia did a custome version of DLSS 3.whatever for the Switch 2 and if From wanted they could add that EZPZ and then never think about it again. It's the expectations that they should do the same for the other hardware that makes it seem like it's too much effort.

They could also optimize for ARM, but that's not easy at all and given what we know about From, they probably don't have the talent to do that. They've never made a game for a non-X86 CPU, and their engine runs terribly on heterogenous architectures like Intel's Alder LAke and later CPUs.

A screenless model that pumps out higher framerates and resolution due to being way easier to cool.

Nothing. The way Nintendo develops games now with open world sensibilities and "player ingenuity" feels so half baked, and since everyone bought the last couple Zelda games and even Tears for $70, they're now allowed to get away with even higher price points for their games.

The key card shit is fucking stupid too, nothing about the Switch 2 sounds like a good idea. I feel like I am finally done with Nintendo, because any new announcement by them just has me feeling pessimistic and annoyed over the premium value they're forcing people to pay for their shit now.

The killing stroke for me was Breath of the Wild selling over 10x more than any other Zelda game in the series, so they have no reason to abandon their current development mindset. Donkey Kong looked interesting for a day, then the more I saw it just looks like every other game they've made in the past 10 years.
