It's called artillery. It can fire at higher angle to overcome obstructions. Of course, you can only do this if you have something else providing reconaissance of the target on the other side of the obstruction. This is also modelled in StarCraft. What are you complaining about?

Sounds good until the CPU enemy micromanages the 47 units attacking you to kite your fire, uses terrain as shield against your physics bullets and abuses fog of war visibility he is not subjected to.
Only way to sidestep that bullshit is to only use artillery, nukes and aircraft.

You are aware, right, that artillery is designed to arc their shots like that so they can hit targets without having a direct line of sight?

Since this thread is a repost ill repost my opinion.
Total anihilation and its sequals barely do anything fun with projectiles.
Myth was the only rts series where simulated projectiles actually mattered and felt significant.

Why would you do that? People said to arc it from above, not tangentially skip it off the nearest hill

If you increase the angle, then the artillery piece would have to move closer. Static artillery also don't have the option of changing their position to fix the trajectory.

Its not just about dodging damage. Its about the sense of impact.

Dwarven molotovs, warlock fireballs, and the occasional fire arrows had more impact and variance then anything in modern rts.

Such a shame that guided artillery rounds like M982 Excalibur are beyond impossible.
FTL travel, psionic BS, cloaking? Sure.

Guided artillery rounds are weaker and slower than ballistic artillery. They also emit a larger heat signature which makes it easier for countermeasures to intercept them.

Just because you drew it like that, does not mean that a starcraft tank can't lob a shell over the cliffside by aiming in an arc.

I'd like to see a RTS in the Warhammer setting with the basebuilding of an old C&C title, physics like Deserts of Kharak, scale of a Total War title and a campaign that combines the best elements of DoW:DC/SS, Total War: Warhammer and C&C campaigns.
