The extra buttons are dead handy on PC - I have them bound to various system shortcuts and a few keyboard keys (for those old games where things like pause are hardcoded to ESC). Bonus: you don't need the software running for your custom binds to work as they are saved to the controller itself.

I'd say it's the opposite - the D-pad behaves like 4 separate clicky buttons instead of one big pivot. I could never consistently do Street Fighter inputs with the mushy Dualshock and Nintendo D-Pads but on the Tarantula it's very consistent and easy to pull off
