This actively pisses me off.
The chances of Nintendo putting out a Switch 2 mini that can fit in a pocket is 0%

Pocketable makes no sense anymore because everyone already has their phone in their pocket. Carrying multiple electronic devices in your pockets is deranged. That's why they integrated music playback into the phone because separate mp3 player and phone was extremely cumbersome.

I want a side Nintendo handheld that uses the size/designs of the modern Game&Watch special anniversary systems they released that fits in your pocket, uses small game carts, wireless multiplayer and plays smaller, gameboy to gba/DS graphical quality games. Call the Super Game&Watch or something.

I travel pretty frequently for work and pleasure and the Steam Deck case fits just fine in my backpack. I don't really have any occasions where I would both not have my backpack and still have downtime for playing games, so that's portable enough for me. It's also just a lot more comfortable for my hands and eyes, and more kinds of games are available to me due to the higher specs and larger screen. Was on a plane over the weekend and had a great time going through a few missions in Blue Revolver

They literally already solved it.
Why has nobody cashed in on this design since
, you could easily make these with 1TB of storage, bluetooth connectivity, and absurdly long batteries, and it wouldn't even cost that much to produce.

I blame the vita for trying so hard to blur the line between handheld and console gaming. Now instead of getting 20+ hours of battery life on sleek, inexpensive, pocket friendly devices, we get bulky, expensive bricks with 2 hours of playtime if you're lucky. All just to play the worst version of any given game.

The Vita, much like the PSP, wasn't meant to be a handheld in the same sense as Nintendo's lineup.
The PSP was an iPod competitor, and the Vita continued that throughline by competing with the newer smartphones.

why because people charge their phone every day anyway, All that better screen tech eats up all the extra battery life anyway.

I'm not even sure if battery life improved any meaningful way over the last 20 years. my first smartphone is like half the size of any modern phone. My first lcd mp3 player lasted easily a week. Smartphones still have an expected battery life of 1-2 days.

Just do it like an apple watch, those things can last two full days on a single charge, while maintaining connectivity and doing shit like vitals checks.
A gimped version of that could probably run for a week, even with a screen, as the screen only functions when interactions are occurring.

you know about Yotaphone, it had an e-ink display on the backside. You'd think this would greatly improve battery life, but it didn't really shine there as well. Maybe it was better for reading e-books, but the normal use battery life was at best average.
People are just used to charging every day, that nobody cares about innovation in that field. Every extra bit of energy will just be wasted on whatever.
I miss the time when we had efficient screens for specific devices that only showed the necessary information, instead of slapping a HD 12gorillion colors touchscreen on everything. A shame e-ink screen went nowhere.

PSP/DS Lite seem like the biggest something can get and still be comfortable
even my New 3DS XL always felt pretty uncomfortable to hold
I got a steam deck years ago and I rarely even use it just because it's uncomfortable to hold for more than about 30 minutes

I don't remember much about the vita, because everyone in high school had a 3ds, but i distinctly remember vita being advertised playing boarderlands 2. I just assumed it was aiming to be a handheld console
>>719016584
Ideally all handhelds would be OLED screens that had excellent batteries and modest specs so that you can play good looking games with maximum battery life. Instead you get 40 fps cyberpunk for 40 minutes.

OG GBA shoulders were fine. Lite's were hard on the fingers. I did quite like Micro's until I had to open mine up twice to fix it, since the membrane inside would eventually slip off the contact.
