This worth buying if I liked Alan Wake?

Yes. It's even worth buying if you don't like Alan Wake.

Sure

Its cool for a bit, but it turns a bit dull in the later hours, no need to get the dlc because it doesnt build enough on it to make it feel fresh. It just more of the "too many" you already have.

The nods to AW are tiny.
Its dirt cheap so do whatever

It's like an SCP game. It's pretty fun

Sure, you seem like you have no standards.

Thanks for the posts, probably gonna scoop it up for cheap. On a side note is AW2 worth playing? I see they kinda went retarded with the black fbi chick but I hear the actual parts with alan are compelling enough to play the game.

Dont listen to 4chan for advice. The Black FBI girl is fine in Alan Wake. It's a fun game, different than Alan Wake 1, way more Twin Peakesque

Very boring, shallow, and repetitive gameplay. If you are someone who falls for the developer who substitutes gameplay for graphics, if you are someone prone to saying the phrase , "That's cool", and if you like your women to look like men, then you will like Control. If you like games with rich gameplay, you will grow bored with Control within five hours.

I held off for about a year until it was on sale and I ended up liking it quite a bit. Saga's issue is more that she isn't developed much and has a lot of agency taken away from her because the focus is on Alan more than anything else, but she isn't annoying or woke or whatever. It's very much like the RE2 Remake in terms of gameplay though, but just without puzzles. Even has the RE2 styled menu. Alan's sections are far better and the highlight of the game.

My only real complaint with it (and story spoilers) is the crossover they do with Control towards the third act. They take a bit of the focus away from the supernatural angle for a bit of the final chapter and it was a little weak. I wish they just kept it as a little bit of set dressing and background stuff. The story has a few other problem areas (swapping between characters makes development seem uneven, Saga being underdeveloped, various minor small things) but I liked it overall. Like a solid 8/10 for me.

You have to treat it like third person Metroid Prime written by "guy that just discovered SCP and made it his entire personality", don't go into it thinking it'll be a diet RE4-like like Alan Wake.

Only if you like the plot of Alan Wake 1 and Control. The gameplay is pretty mediocre.

Side note to that, gameplay is actually very fucking mid to low, so it's perfectly reasonable to play this on very easy with autoaim. It's a game for the story.

Facts. Gameplay’s nothing to write home about-feels kinda floaty and repetitive-but the atmosphere absolutely carries. If you vibe with that creepy government-surrealism tone like Control had, it’s got enough weirdness and mood to keep you interested at least for a playthrough. Just don’t expect a satisfying combat loop or meaningful upgrades.
