How people view The Witcher 3 is how I view Mankind Divided. It is an unsung masterpiece.

well firstly you need to go the train station
secondly you need to hop in the aug car or a policeman will spawn and ask for your papers which takes up another 40 seconds (at least on a repeat offense they disappear)
and thirdly you need to watch about 7 seconds of the exiting train or walking down railway animation even after load

this wouldn't be so annoying if they didn't make you travel between the two areas so much for almost every quest in the game

It really is the best modern IMSIM that was ruined out the gate with awful pre-order incentives, bad optimization and one of the first aggregious instances of Microtransactions in a single player game.

What the fuck are (You) talking about? MD was considered a failure because the entire "Deus Ex Universe" project failed to print money. Your fixation on some meme tier pre-order bullshit only shows you total ignorance of what happened.

If it had just been MD it would have sold fine. But the books didn't sell, the comics didn't sell, nobody wanted to build up hype with scanning Triangle Codes to unlock (now totally defunct) bonuses on social media. Square Enix had huge expectations of creating a new franchise and when it inevitably flopped they canned the whole thing. "Augment Your Pre-Order" had basically nothing to fucking do with it.

I'm replaying MD right now and even though I have a soft spot for it it's hard to seriously rate it better than a 7.5/10
just kind of undercooked all around, none of the plot threads go anywhere, half of the interesting stuff in Prague is blatantly unfinished/cut content that was just left in for set dressing, cloak completely trivializes the entire game after you get a few praxis kits and a stack of biocells which isn't terrible because combat and movement sucks
Really hurts to imagine what could have been if it had the same level of polish as HR. Also would have killed for a rerelease to actually integrate the DLC and maybe even add director's commentary (really loved that feature in HRDX)

No, Sarif Industries was bought out by TYM like they'd been trying to do for years because of the Aug Incident. He's only relevant in MD because his personal wealth and contacts kept him, personally, afloat.

SI wasn't even that big in the first place. TYM (The Illuminati) had just bought out or destroyed every other biotech firm on the market by the time HR starts.

>The Aug slavery stuff was being enacted by the Illuminati to keep a firm class division between rich and poor augmented people not a belief being pushed by the devs.
Within the setting's own future history, this could not happen. DX states that the Illuminati lost power when the US federal government limited personal freedoms and caused the Northwest War against its own citizens after everything that happened in the 2030s. MJ12 was able to take over the Illuminati because the Illuminati, in DX's setting, is an invisible hand. They would never have allowed for human concentration camps because that would prevent humanity from eventually reaching its own enlightenment.

To put it another way, the Illuminati creates hierarchies not to oppress, but to create a path to success. The problem is that this process takes such an incredibly long amount of time they're threatened by augmentation technology that can uplift peoples and nations who aren't ready for the next step of social evolution. The writers of HR and MD didn't convey this properly because they believe the Illuminati in DX are capitalists, when the accumulation of wealth isn't their goal. They're using capital as a means to an end.

JC Denton and Helios scared them shitless because JC could force human uplifting with nanites and create a post-civilization society without the need for tantric breathing and astral projection.

>The writers of HR and MD didn't convey this properly because they believe the Illuminati in DX are capitalists
There are three major Illuminati antagonists in HR. Hugh Darrow, William Taggart and Zhao Yun Ru. Zhao is just a tagalong trying to increase her standing so she can get promoted to the Council. Darrow and Taggart both had a hand in the game's augmentation killswitch biochip plot and both tell you they had basically the same reasoning: people could not be trusted with augmentation technology with the rapid way it was developing. Darrow because he thinks it's going to kill human nature entirely and created a society of mechanical sociopaths, Taggart because it's going to widen the inequalities already present in human society to a point it will never recover.

At no point is it ever expressed in HR that it's just about money, wealth or the personal power of a handful of elites.

You're intelligent enough to understand that. The person I was writing a response to believed in a class divide as the message of MD, and they were replying to someone who believed that both HR and MD were Black Lives Matter narratives. My post you're replying to is written in response to those specific audiences.

Did you miss the part where Hugh Darrow triggered programming in the "bugfix" chip that augs were compelled to install causing everyone who was augmented and got the chip to go insane and kill people? Being confused here just tells me you didn't actually play the game and are just complaining about politics.

every time I start talking to someone about how MD is bad, it ends up going in one of these ways:

>noooo it's BLM propaganda (so they weren't paying attention at all?)
>I wanted to know where the plot threads were going! (so they wanted a third Jensen game)
>It's too short! (so they wanted more?)

So it always ends up being funny.

at first glance, Arkane would seem like the most obvious candidate because of how similar their games are to DX. But by now, Arkane has lost most of their talent, and what's left is working on a Blade action-adventure game.

Bethesda seem to be at their best when making open world sandbox RPGs, but yeah, I don't think it's absolutely impossible for them to make a DX game, I just don't think they're interested. If Microsoft were to acquire the Deus Ex IP, they'd probably give it to Obsidian or inXile.
