Because I have yet to encounter a single flesh-and-blood person in the real world who has even heard of Hollow Knight, let alone its vapourware sequel.

And don’t come at me with the "it’s beloved, it’s a classic" nonsense, you twats. I have never seen a second of gameplay footage for the original outside of some grainy GIFs spammed in /v/ threads. No one I know IRL has ever brought it up. Not friends, not coworkers, not even randoms in gaming conversations. It’s like it only exists in some weird echo chamber online, where bots and marketing interns are desperately trying to convince us this is the second coming of Christ. And now we're expected to believe other indie devs are "scared" of releasing near it like it's fucking GTA? Get knotted.

Think about it: every couple of months, the gaming press collectively lit a candle to Silksong with another “Is it finally coming?” article, and every time the replies are allegedly filled with hordes of screaming fans. Yet offline? Radio silence. Absolutely nothing. If this were a real phenomenon, you’d expect even a shred of crossover into casual conversation. But there’s nothing. Nada. It reeks of corporate seeding. It was the same thing with Baldumb's Gay 3 and Clair 'Destined for Obscurity' Obscur 33 (I bet the first 32 games were classics too, right?)

Fact: no real person is hyped for Silksong. It’s marketing smoke and mirrors. A hype bubble being inflated by people who stand to profit from it. And once it finally drops it’ll vanish from the collective consciousness in about a week, because the actual player base outside of the botnet is negligible.

I mean Hollow Knight was only okay. It was just a big metroidvania with a neat art style. It didn't have great substance to it, you spend most of the game wandering dead ends until you find the specific path to the dead-end-breakthrough spell you need to find your next set of dead ends.
