Most game designers either have no fucking idea or deliberately ignore how modern tank combat works, because sniper duels at the range of multiple kilometers where both sides have aim assist and/or guided ammo just don't look "fun".

2: The magnetic field travels WITH the projectiles. That is literally how all plasma weapons work in universe.

3: Even though the covenant are dumb as shit and actively chose to imitate forerunner technology and use it for it's basic purpose, and label any form of innovation as heresy, the forerunner tech is still really advanced and with their numbers, they're still a force to be reckoned with. 2500s humanity was on the back-foot for a reason.

The plasma pistol is broken and made it impossible to use vehicles. The carbine is just a retextured DMR. Plasma grenades are insane. Needle rifle and beam rifle are amazing. Energy sword and Grav hammer were niche but busted.
Halo's vehicle combat was mediocre all around.

Probably because the races the covenant fought and merged with were relatively primitive, like the grunts, hunters, and the brutes who only found out about rockets and radios after nuking themselves before. The books describe plasma as much more powerful than what the games show basically, but the books also have the spartans be a lot more powerful. The messy as fuck book power scaling is comical at times like in the books the forerunners have universe eating batteries and shit but then you play halo 4 and laugh at how stupid they made the forerunners look. Like I was open to some re-awakening forerunner as the enemy but they fucked that idea up so hard. I think it says something when fucking Metroid Dread did the evil ancient antagonist so much better.
