I like Aqua a lot. She should be the protagonist if Sora ever isn't.

As for gameplay this one wasn't my cup of tea but I liked all of these mechanics in other games. Except d linking because they never brought it back. They should have all given you unique moves that you can unlock for your base deck.

I liked it because the abilities felt fresh and fun. All the main games just have your typical fire, thunder, blizzard, etc. But bbs was more creative

That's kinda the problem with the series after 2. They introduce all that shit in BBS and people went "Wow I can use KH1 abilities again" and completely ignored the glaring battle issues like none of your attacks stunlocking bosses, bosses just teleporting out of shit, etc.

Birth By Sleep is the Apex of the Kingdom Hearts 2 era combat, and A Fragmentary Passage is a better portrayal of a version of the KH3 combat than KH3 actually managed to provide.

Also we needed a Pastoral Symphony world in KH3 complete with the topless Centaurettes.

I liked that I could almost play full spell spell caster mode as Aqua. The most fun version of the magic form in KH2 was worse than the master form, don't get me wrong, but the Wisdom Drive Form has some of my favorite animations and visuals. It felt so good even though it wasn't the best form by the end of the game.

Aqua in BBS felt great to play just casting spells. I really wish KH would let people lean more heavily into one the three playstyles. Magic is just the playstyle I prefer. I want all the playstyles fully supported.

I didn't like Magic in KH3 as much as in 2 or BBS. And BBS is my favorite for magic play.

Command deck is a proper evolution of card mechanics from COM, and command fusion is a good evolution of sleights. D-linking is actually the best version of summons in the franchise and they're slept on but they have insane utility. Mysterious Figure is a joke when you use Zack or Goofy. Shotlocks might be screen nukes but they offer different elemental damage in a pinch when you know what you're coming up against. Overall, BBS is a great game and while I think Re: Coded and DDD improve on a good amount of what BBS introduced, it doesn't stop it from being a solid game.

Also the Command Board mini-game is genuinely fun and I don't get tired of it. Only thing I don't get is that the elemental dodges aren't very good, and while the level design is better than 2s (low bar), I wish that it was more vertical.

It has to do with it being attacking frames conflicting with the evasion frames or something lie that.

Not really. All the foreshadowing in BBS and talks about Roxas seeming to have a heart in Days seemed like it was setting him up to be Ventus. Would've been fine if we got an Aqua game post-KH2 instead of Sora and co coming back.
