This but unironically. I don't think people realize that "playing games" just means pushing buttons and watching cool shit happen on the screen. I mean, we could rationalize it however we want, be it a second job, some grand quest, a way to get street cred on a basketweaving forum, but ultimately it's just that. You put the controller in your hand, or wrists on the keyboard, and watch pretty colors that presumably correspond to your inputs. The more we overcomplicate this process the more tired we become because now we're assigning meaning to an otherwise meaningless act. A recent example of this I was thinking of actually is Sword of the Sea, that fucking game is just a bunch of sand everywhere and the "gameplay" is almost entirely automated. But I'd consider it peak gaming because you can just zone out and waste an hour or two riding around and enjoying the vibe. Yeah that sound cringe to write out but it's the truth, same can be said about a gacha or idk Metal Gear Solid once you understand the basic rules and get into a groove.
The key to a good life is to remove all stress which in the context of games means getting over that initial hurdle of learning mechanics and sheit so you have this crazy thing called FUN and SMILE instead of hate the concept of gaming altogether.
