It's not that obvious. Racing games sometimes have intentional shortcuts that sometimes involve jumping. There's a ramp right there. A reasonable person would at least try it. Whether it ever worked, I don't know and I don't care. I just came into this thread to say you're wrong about this one point. Bye.

While the skip in the OP getting cloudguy'd is probably justifiable, there are a ton of instances where going slightly off track will get you cloudguy'd even though you could have recovered onto the track quicker than his animation plays out. It's annoying

No one is talking about it anymore because it's just another Mario Kart, a party game for all ages that will be played for the next 10 years while Nintendo profits without doing anything.
