Shadowrun is pretty much the opposite of that. The different outcomes of the awakening are the main drivers of conflict.

It's like the ultimate expression of "me me me" in writing. The writer is so caught up in his ego that he willingly drops the work onto a lower level.

Of course you "can" write something that's internally inconsistent. Just like an engineer "can" design machines that don't work in real life. But at the end, it's just sucking yourself off for the sake of the craft rather than for the sake of the outcome (a very "redditor" thing to do by the way). It's a completely pointless exercise and if it was only for yourself it wouldn't be so bad, but the second you start wasting even a minute of someone elses time with it you're just a dumbass that should neck himself, seriously.

It's fine if the species are merely trading partners who occasionally do cultural exchange, but largely live apart. The globohomo fantasy is boring and lame tho
