Wages stagnates, didn't increase with inflation, the few people who benefitted from the 2020 economic boom were people that were already millionaires or better, and everything got more expense.
The inflation of console prices as you depict is doesn't actually mean anything. There's only what people can pay in the context of every other product, including necessities like food, drink, shelter, etc, getting more expensive and the average and lower class wages stagnating at best or dropping (or jobs just disappearing) at worst.
We live in a housing bubble where rent that used to cost 300-500 a month now costs 1200-3000 a month in the same exact area just TEN years ago. The average person makes from 3000-7000 a month depending on state with the overall average being 5,174 a month. The rent in the area I used to live in was 600, it's 2100 there now. Imagine putting 2100usd into rent per month if you're making 5174 before all other expenses like bills, food, insurance, car payments, etc etc etc. And you aren't going to be able to use public transport because the US doesnt know how to do so you need the car, you need the food and drink. You need the insurance because its fucking illegal not to have it.
Most people only have 300-600 usd left at the end of the month and if they're smart they're putting that into retirement, social security, a 401k, or into an fund for emergencies - which, after things like that you aren't left with money for a console or games very often. You'll save for MONTHS to get a full price game, and you'll save for YEARS to get a console and that's considering the shit doesnt hit the fan with some crazy medical or dental or other psycho huge bill because something unexpected happened with health.
