Apparently, it seems Nintendo was the one preventing most third party devs from porting games to the Switch 2 by not sending them dev kits. All because they want the Switch 2 user base to grow larger before flooding the system with ports. Many leakers seem to say the same thing. Does Nintendo really expect the Switch 2 to sell 20 million with just Mario Kart and Donkey Kong?

Switch 1 launch was like this too. After the Wii U failing and the 3ds having a rough launch nintendo likes to do soft launches with their consoles

Are they retarded? One of the big reasons people were excited for Switch 2 is that it would bridge the gap between the competitors hardware and we wouldn't have to worry (as much) about performance anymore.
By denying devs access they're just gonna put out low quality ports due to lack of experience with the system abd give it a bad look.
And they say they want to grow the user base, but have nothing exclusive between now and kirby in late November....

Have you seen the state of the Elden Ring port? They gave From a dev kit for The Duskbloods, and they turned around and put out a port that performs like trash.

Nintendo put out 60fps Zelda ports, with Xenoblade likely to follow shortly. Mario Kart and Bananza are already performant new games. Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 are both going to be at strong framerates, and coming by the end of the year.

That same insider info is saying that devs who successfully got kits asked for them while mentioning that they intended to take advantage of Switch 2 features that weren't on the original, like 4K, HDR, or 120fps. The ones who aren't getting kits are the those saying they want to port games that the original Switch couldn't handle.

They don't want people to see the Switch 2 performing like shit this early into its life. And given that it's selling well, they don't need to. It's not especially helpful to consumers, but it's a smart business move.
