The vast majority of PC Gamers use the OS that is running in their Net Cafe, or that came pre-installed on their laptop.
GNU/Linux so far only comes pre-installed on a single handheld PC model.
It is the most popular handheld PC by a decent margin, and a huge chunk of hobbyist system builders now build their systems for and install Linux based OSes, but that only gets you so far. To move much beyond 5% of Western PC Gaming, more systems need to come with Linux based OSes pre-installed. Particularly the type of systems net cafes buy which might explain the very low specs of the 'Fremont' engineering samples.

Thing is on systems built to run Linux it has been there for quite a while. There are whole categories of Linux based OSes you probably don't even think of as Linux because you don't need the terminal unless you want out of the curated experience.
Ironically, Microsoft's official "Won't fix" statements about critical issues with basic functionality of their new post-desktop OS point to their command line shell as the work around.
