DMC is dogshit as adventure game. Diablo (lootshit) is also pretty dogshit as an adventure game an alsohas dogshit action and RPG elements. Dragon's Dogma isn't great either as an adventure either; it's just ER but smaller and with shitty dungeons, aside from BBI which is pretty good until it literally starts repeating rooms.

Dragon's Dogma is somewhat different from the others in that it absolutely could have been a proper adventure game, it's just blatantly unfinished
the good parts of it absolutely do make you feel like you're on a proper adventure, and the combat system it has works pretty well for what it's trying to do (frankly as jank as it is, fighting dragons by climbing them still beats fighting them in souls games by jamming your sword up their butts)

I like Dark Arisen, and a lot of stuff works in that game, but the adventure elements often leave something to be desired. at parts I'm blown away and at other parts it's hard to believe I'm playing the same game in terms of quality. it's the same how i felt about ER/DS2 too. these are all fine games.
