I've ragequit that fight more than once-starts off fine, then suddenly it's doing pirouettes in space and beaming me into the next dimension. Originally it was just a franchise putting japanese mech designs into a wargame with a tabletop friendly large open setting and lots of mechanical crunch. Over time the the franchise has been sold repeatedly and the fanbase has slowly seeped into the writing room and have retconned and fiddled with parts.
I dunno when they all started pretending they were way cooler than the anime they copied to make it, but it's a total quagmire of influences now. I don't think battletech even really is one thing, it's a dozen things kind of crammed together and everyone just picks out the parts they like.

Oh. That thing. That's a totally different fight, I think. It's not too bad if you know exactly what to do
I just spam lockon until it flips around then mash the shoot button on its weakspot like a maniac. Kills it very quickly in my experience
Almost managed to do it on hard mode at level 1 for lols but ate shit and died at the last possible second. The timer's a lot longer but you do so much less damage that it doesn't help
Phase 2 would've timed me out even if I survived
>>719061124
It's a real fucker of a fight. Easily the hardest one in the game, maybe barring some of the bonus stages.
I always get mixed up on whether I should be shooting the core and using lockon for the emeralds or the other way around, meaning I get fucked up by the boss's obnoxiously high damage counter-fire
It's not made any easier by how it comes right after the giant mecha-serpent boss

Haven't played many mech games. My favorite is probably Powered Gear. Cool mech beat em up in which you can switch out your arm, bottom frame, and mounted weapon with whatever the enemy drops.

Battletech: Armored Combat for the Genesis is great as well. You pilot a Madcat and do campaigns Desert Strike styled. It does get hard from campaign two and onward since you're on a fire planet depleting your life and the first mission is literally a tightly timed one on a map you're not familiar with.

Other mech games I'm interested in are the early Mech Warrior games, Gundam Sode Story 0079, Metalstorm, Metal Warriors, Target Earth, Cybernator, Future Cop LAPD, Assault Suits Valken, Front Mission: Gun Hazard, and Ranger X. Played Virtual-On in the arcades, but sparsely. Was a really fun game from what little I've played.

it wasn't a lost planet game, but the idea was cool, i would play the SHIT out of a giga-mech trucker style game where you go out into huge storms, gather lost equipment from orbital drops, and defended the base from alinn bugs.
IF, you also had faster options, like a little scout platform you could take into cave, give it a hauling hook you need to use to bring cargo back to the surface for the bigger mech to load up and haul back, and for fucks sake, dont jam it on the end of a weird jap game series that had magical anime fightan robots attacking bugs as a main plot point.

There's a button in the options that's called "orient to mouse" or something like that. I bound it to my mouse thumb button and it lets you pilot mechs as if they were agravs as long as you keep it pressed. It kinda feels like cheating idk

The games with mecha where there's any inertia or a feeling a mechanized combat can be counted on one hands.

If get to count as mecha any spaceship games it could take a while.

I don't think you watched enough anime, anon.
Most "real robot" mechs are slow as shit. Even Gundams are meant to be slow as fuck on the ground, they are only fast in the air and in space.
The only exceptions are those shitty Gundam AUs and slop like Unicorn.

Nowadays, it's a franchise that need to DIE.

>year 2025
>physics engines and ragdolls are now almost mandatory feature
>reverse kinematic allow to graphically match on any terrain
>modern engines let the player character body and view rotate 360Β° up and down
>modern AI are capable of navigating outside prewritten path

High-Macs.

It's a Gungriffon fan game that if the dev jap had any sense he'd sell.

It's an almost perfect blend of high mobility mecha with mech style simulation and outstandingly gritty audio design.
