>Retro 5.5th gen controller
The deliberately retro xbox controller is shit and was never good.
It has no motion controls that would be necessary to get the kind of shoulder/elbow/wrist movement that you need to get the kind of accuracy you need for 3D games without massive software assistance and simplification.
It still has a Dpad instead of a better menuing system despite almost explicitly not being for 2D games.
It still has its face buttons all the same size despite this being suboptimal for game design.
It still has no back buttons by default despite the poor game design of dual analog controls and its aforementioned "retro" lack of motion controls.
It still has no dual stage triggers, despite its propensity for being an FPS controller.
It still isn't a split controller despite this being better for ergonomics and motion controls (which it doesn't have).
The 360 isn't retro because of its age, it was already retro on launch.
Keyboard and mouse is generally better, the only reason it has fallen behind is sheer ineptitude in actually designing control schemes.
Controllers are better for tank controls, but no game uses those anymore.

It's good for platformers as long as the controls let the mouse play a direct role in controlling your heading.

Mouse gives much finer, yet still snappier analog control than dual analog. If you want to adjust walk speed you have the mousewheel.

Controllers like the Gamecube and Wii controllers were heavily let down by the default bindings being shit and the DS4 only remembered that it had motion controls on PC.

The Wii was pretty neat, barring the fact that it was basically in its infancy. People getting reactionary about motion controls because of Wii commercials has held back gaming for 20 years and we're still on outdated retro controller shit because of it.
