Saw it when it first released here in the US. Theater was packed, which was nice until they started laughing at googly-eyed Kamata-kun. Stayed for the credits solely to listen to the music. I liked it at the time, but as the years pass I feel it's closer to Evangelion than it is to Godzilla.

I'd argue it's the thematic elements that make a dragon more than it's physical characteristics. But there must be a baseline of reptilian features. I don't think wings are required. Plenty of wingless dragons.

That, Rodan's theme, and the "Get Rodan" theme too. But I guess those themes weren't considered iconic enough to be necessary inclusions like Godzilla's or Mothra's. But it's weird how the lyrics of Mothra's theme were removed, especially since the rest of the score already has chants and vocals

It was a good watch, but I think it didn't age well for a monster movie. Shin G was really just a destructive retarded child in a hobby store and the movie was more of a commentary against Japan's government. He was hardly an antagonist or even a character, but Shin Godzilla was absolutely a better film than Legendary Picture's Godzilla King of the Monsters anyways.
I personally don't think people can ever do a Godzilla movie right nowadays. Watched Tokyo SOS yesterday, jumped out of my chair and yelled "KINO!"

The one thing I love about Godziban is thsat Toho allow the creator a ton of creativity ranged. They gave us Super Godzilla (even gave him a new origin), created the Spacegodzilla triplets, and even gave us Super Biollante. Can't wait to see what the next season will give.

Yeah would make for a great film or a show of it a Godzilla and Ultraman buddy cop sorta scenario, could even have a flashback of the Ultra Brothers having to face King Ghidorah. Though not sure if they would use the original, another of the many Ultra's or make a new one for the crossover. At least Gigabash let's them crossover suppose, hoping that game has some more Ultra characters pop up, mainly some more Kaiju like Gomora, Red King, Zetton for example. Ultra wise I'd just want Mebius, Zero, Ultraseven, Geed or Belial....Agul is also one I wouldn't complain getting in.

Someone should edit or draw Shin Mefilas saying that. Also he's probably one of the best parts of the film besides just the good writing and ideas it presents. Gave Mefilas a brilliant redesign and superb characterisation for the classic Seijin who's one of my personal faves besides Alien Metron, Alien Hipporito or Alien Nackle.

It was a cool way to get across just how beyond humanity they were in power beyond their usual powers and them being able to turn giant while fitting their devious characterisations and modernising elements of their invasion threat. Also if I had the power to manipulate the internet I'd just cruelty get rid of the pornography that didn't appeal to me and rewrite posts to agree with my opinions lmao. That's what most people with internet manipulation would probably do on a petty level that didn't involve online fund manipulation. I will say despite liking Zarab, didn't like the invisible back thing despite being suitably weird and alien, the effect is incredibly well done but I just prefer seeing all of Alien Zarab. The film also did great with the Kaiju designs that it's kind of a shame that it probably won't get a sequel where Red King, Gomora or other iconic Kaiju could get a funky new look.

Does anyone else love the design of the american 1998 Godzilla? I thought it was so cool and I found all the other Godzillas before it to be lame looking. I can't take the faces of those older Godzillas seriously, looks too wide eyed like something from a kid's show.
