Switched to Bazzite a week or so ago. Everything from powerline/wireless printing, word processing/pdf editing, watching videos on VLC went as smooth, or even smoother than on windows. Setting things up for ultrawide and gaming in HDR where available (needed a few Environment variables added in i.e. Lutris or Steam), to overcloxking my XTX with lact. Everything easy and fast to setup and understand.
Only thing that for the love of God doesnt want to work is using optiscaler with reframework to enable DLSS in resident evil games..
Anyway, i havent booted I to windows for days.

Linux gaming still suffers from regressions, either from linux driver updates, linux runtime updates (like proton), and regressions introduced by updates to the actual windows software you're running through its compatibility layers.
You also have to tinker tranny to get full speed in every single one of your games where you care about getting 100% performance.

This
I played vidya on several different distros over a couple years but ultimately just went back to Wangblows
The tinkertrannying can be novel for a while but one day you take a step back and look at the circus act you've created just to run your games and you just wipe your disk and flash a w10 usb

I agree that you rarely absolutely have to switch to Windows. Most shit you can get to run, only thing I used W10 for while mainly on linux was some gigantic TESV modpack

It's at least 90% good enough these days. If there's something that doesn't work automatically from steam I just go to protondb and find a fix. But I also don't play new AAA releases. If it was more of a challenge I'd probably accept it because I have no interest in using windows or any other ms product outside of work

Too many distros. That's the problem with Linux is that it's so all over the place. I'm having a totally shit time with my laptop's NVIDIA GPU since making the switch. Probably going to install Windows on my 2nd SSD because I still need it for some things and my Win 11 VM runs like shit and it doesn't seem like there's a fix for it.

The distro doesn't mean shit. The drivers work on all of them as long as you have a Linux kernel

>The Nvidiots crawl out of the woodwork
Try turning on gameworks or old Physx on your modern meme card.
Nvidia proprietary slop does not matter, will quickly be forgotten about and compatibility will soon only be maintained by open sauce AMD drivers.
It works just fine on AMD when using the correct implementation, but game devs will continue to be paid off to use the wrong one.

Maybe because protondb is completely useless and you can't trust it for anything.
