After playing these 2 back to back
I still think RDR2 is a good game but i just wonder why they removed so much from the game that RDR1 had
>Horses are slow as shit
>no more random bounties, all bounties are scripted
>no more random duel challenges in towns
>cant disarm in duels since all the duels are scripted
>cant cheat at Poker anymore, wich often resulted in getting duel'ed
>almost no new guns in the SP
>no cattle rustling
RDR1 may have less features and customisation but is ALOT more focused in its gamedesign and setting

they went for a realism angle with the setting. in the 19th century not even stetson cowboy hats were a thing, but they had to include them because people would be outraged.rdr1 is a generic western (not really spaghetti imo, just generic as fuck). that includes the removal of silly tropes like high noon duels.

there are infinite bounties in read dead online btw

RDR1 is an actual cowboy game
RDR2 is a hate letter to westerns written by women and their simps who hate anything traditionally masculine.

rdr2 doesn't try to be cowboy anything. it's an outlaw adventure game and a simulator of the great outdoors. even CoJ gunslinger wasn't as generic as rdr1, as they had this cool historical revisionist plot that took you all over the country.

not playing a dead MP mode for a feature that should have been in SP

And a few minigames from RDR1 didn't return, not that they needed to but it would've been nice.

If it's so generic name three other western games like it

It went from a western game to a cinematic game.
Also they removed liars dice and ruined poker by making you sit through painfully long unskippable animations which can be said about much of the game really.

wich is why it sucked, if you make a western game you better make it cheecky as fuck with all of the tropes because those tropes are fun as hell
Im playing a game, not reading a history book

Yes, I agree. It's not a cowboy game. It's snoy trash.
>hates anything western related and thinks something appealing to straight men is "generic" but gushes over feminist snoy crap
Says everything about you.

yeah 19th century outlaws were notorious for carting around screeching feminists.

RDR1
>You buy a horse certificate , then you can open your inventory and select which horse you want via which certificate is active, letting you swap horses out easily whenever you want and making it so losing your horse, the main way to get around, is no big deal
>There were some rare horses you couldn't get permanent certificates for but they were rare such as the unicorn or the dark horse
>The horse is just a vessel that lets you get around and enjoy the world while fitting in perfectly and not holding back gameplay at all
>If the horse ever misbehaves you can blast it with dynamite or shoot it in the head and call another one within 15 seconds
RDR2
>Your horse is a permanent part of you. It has health, stats, ball shrinkage, can be underfed or become dirty, and even has its own cores
>Your horse can be permanently upgraded with one time stat boosts, this applies to any horse, even if it's a completely shitty one or the best in the game, or a completely unique one
>Your horse can die to predators, falls, being shot, or having a train hit it - even unique ones
>Sometimes you can revive it, sometimes it will die instantly
>If it dies, it's gone for good, you'll have to buy or find another to tame
>Also anything being carried on the horse is also gone for good, bye bye legendary pelts
>The horse acts "realistic" and will do retarded things like trotting away from you or refusing to come when called
>You cannot just shoot it and then call another one, you have to put up with the bullshit
>If your horse dies in the middle of nowhere you have to slowly trudge back to civilisation before you can get another one
>Also the game autosaves when your horse dies for some reason
>Your gameplay is cut short as MUH REALISM comes into full force as you can't just activate a new horse certificate to give yourself another horse and carry on playing the fucking game
I hate RDR2 and this is just a small factor as to why
