>retarded new grads and outsourced pajeets that gaming companies use to replace experienced devs to save some shekels don't know what the fuck they're doing

FTFY

But games run still? The best engine you are making right now didn't run any for 10+ years spent on the development

You may hate Timmy for his dogshit store or for his ubiquitous unoptimized engine, but this man is fighting on YOUR side against corpos trying to lock down any sideloading on phones and only allowing shit sanctioned by googe/apple
That's at least something you can really thank him for

He is the new Unity

Unity really only gained relevance because of how hard Tim was screwing over devs with Unreal licensing fees. Poorer devs couldn't afford that shit so they picked a cheapassed Indie engine.
Tim backed off the exorbitant pricing, so devs went back to Unreal.
Unity going FULL RETARD trying to shake down Indie devs for more money would then kill Unity.
It's the circle of life....the circle of life.

Yeah I don't think most developers even when competent want to re-implement huge chunks of functionality in their engine. They are probably using unreal and not making their own engine for a reason.

If it was so good, why did they sell it to EA?

Lmao true, people forget just how long it takes to build a functioning engine from scratch. Meanwhile, even with all its jank and bloat, Unreal actually ships games-lots of them. You might need a space heater to run it, but at least youโ€™re playing something that exists instead of watching another GDC talk about โ€œnew revolutionary techโ€ that never ships.

yes please rewrite major parts of this engine that was made to work out of the box.

That makes me think, why don't people revert back to using UE4 ?
