I don't care about Hollow Knight but I find funny how all indie developers are delaying their games due to Silksong; imagine telling customers that your product is so shit you encourage them to buy the competition.

The games I'm waiting for are AA and AAA so they were unaffected, and the only indie I'm waiting for eagerly made a vague promise about releasing during late September but it has been delaying since 2024 so I'm used to it.

I've collected every hunter journal entry, every charm, beaten every boss that isn't Godhome stuff, found every secret, got every mask and soul shard, and beat all the other DLCs. 30 or so hours.

Which is fine? One run is about 45min of bosses. Most bosses you're already familiar with their patterns, and if you're not, you can practice. It's a fun process of learning patterns.
I died first time to Pure Vessel, practiced the fight for a few hours, got comfy with all the patterns, went back, beat Pure Vessel to unlock Absolute Radiance, died, practiced the AR for a few hours...It's very rewarding when you actually beat the thing. Very few games make you feel like that, if you stick to it.

Having beat it, I can't say it's something I want to go back to for the exact gameplay loop you're describing. It's not something with good replayability, and basically demands you pay attention to several bosses that are so easy that they'll put you to sleep, and then the final few will actually demand some precision. On top of making you have to endure so long to get to them, it makes me wish they had just made it so you fight 10 of the hardest bosses. Sisters of Battle alone isn't enough of a twist to carry that kind of time investment. This isn't like exploration where the time investment is offset with you planning routes, and reminding yourself of places you haven't gone yet. There's usually more to do once you reach an area you haven't explored yet than with a boss you've already beaten in practice.

Not that this matters now, Silksong looks like it'll have enough build variety to specifically offset this criticism.

It's about endurance. I get that. It's not for everybody.
But the difficulty, interest, and stress lie precisely there. Even if you think you're good at Nightmare Grimm, PV and AR, you have to beat them knowing that you have been battling bosses for 40min already. If you could retry the last ten bosses, it wouldn't be as rewarding to achieve. The stakes wouldn't be as high.
And when you're at the top of the platforms against AR, for the final strokes... What was your feeling? That's the good feeling.
But I'm not nuts trying to do that with the full binds, that's just next level of stupid. Same with AR mods etc.

The Pantheon of Hallownest would be slightly better if they removed bosses that have harder versions, like False Knight or the first Hornet encounter.

Combat is completely different to hollow knight, it's very static and parry focused. Not that it's bad, the parries are very satisfying, it's just not like hk at all.
Game is hard. If you lost your soul a few times in hollow knight, be prepared for that to happen dozens of times in nine sols.
I would say the exploration is just a bit below hollow knight.
The story is very ching chong ping pong-pilled so if you are allergic to china i recommend just skipping all dialogue (kind of a dialogue heavy game).
