TotK is a good game. It's just the most recent, so it gets the loudest criticism, which makes unthinking zombies unable to form their own opinions believe it's the worst thing ever.
The real worst game in the series by a landslide is Triforce Heroes.

I want a Zelda where Link gets a Devil Trigger and call it Master Soul.

If it had its own world, at least it would still be remarkable. But the fact that it's the same world of the previous game is what kills this piece of shit. It's literally BOTW, but with a new gimmick thrown on top. Even the main campaign is basically the same, you do the same things, in the same places, with the same gameplay, with the same collectibles, same enemies, following the same overall structure, in the same fucking story now told differently...

TotK should've been a ripoff of Diablo 1.
After the opening, Link is sent to the sky where there's a tutorial, and then he goes back to Lookout Landing wherein he makes repeated, progressive delves into the depths of the Castle and learns more along the way as well as from the citizens in town.

It's the same, but different, which really rubbed me the wrong way. They did the 'Nintendo thing' thing by essentially sweeping the story from the last game under the rug, then pulled bits and pieces they wanted to carry into ToTK, but it was not a true sequel that built substantially on BOTW. It could easily existed without BOTW.

The fact that it took them more time to make this literal mod than Fromsoft took to make Elden Ring, Sekiro and Armored Core all at the same time is massively telling

The craziest thing is that after spending so much time working on a mod, what we received is something that looks like it was thrown together in a hurry in six months, where even the continuity of the game's story doesn't make sense depending on the order in which you collect the memories.
On the gerudos' quest, you put your life, and that of the faggot accompanying you, at risk, because the developers didn't consider that at that point the player could already have information that nullifies everything that is happening.
It's as if no one who worked on that game cared.
