Look at something like Trench Crusade, the creators told chuds coming in to fuck off becuase they were trying to hijack it and use it for culture war stuff and didnt even seem to have interest in the game, and because they didnt side with the chuds, that means they are woke, the game was gatekept. In effect all this was was telling political brainrot faggots to fuck off, there is no woke in the game, the problem was that this act of gatekeeping people who just want to use the thing for their own ends are now rooting for its downfall, they refuse to just get involved with it because they like it, they NEED to be pandered to or they dont have interest, so actively fight for more things that just pander rather than just having something that exists and they can choose to come in or not. The reason why I dont know if gatekeeping works is because at what point is the people demanding change actually right, and at what point should you tell people to fuck off.
