spamming aerial launchs/drops can be punished or paried before it lands if you have no gleam bar, enemies have too much tracking for flying swallow to be safe without thinking about positioning, UTs can be parried as well, reducing your iframes to nothing as you getting parried gets you in recovery you cannot cancel without gleam. Parries have a very tight window as well.

I have around 300 hours in DMCV. If he's in a single mission that i play 100 times, it's all good. The vast majority of my time was trying to S rank the same mission or climbing the Blood Palace. If the gameplay is good, replayability is high and that's what matters for action games.
