All of the classes are gonna be viable, the game is really not that hard to require it. You just need to have a rational tree/build.
That being said, to give an actual answer, right now people are just kind of guestimating. Deadeye was strong last patch and got buffed, so everyone thinks that will be the way to go.

No new classes, let alone classes I care about, no new weapon types, let alone weapon types I care about, priority on defensive stats seems completely skewed out the fucking ass, Yonathan decided to listen to chinks (literally never a good idea) and thinks evasion is the worst defensive stat so it doesn't seem like defense will get any better, game is still pay2test, and a 2 day weekend free trial isn't good enough to bother playing or trying to wrangle any friends to hop on for, so no, I don't really care about this patch that much.

I just hate how RNG it gets after you wrap up Normal + Hard. Now I get it, RNG is part of these games but PoE2 relies way, way too fucking heavily on shitty currency drops good stat rolls on basic loot - and ontop of that you RNG either an upgrade or outright ruin an item!

If you've been copying good builds for a while you eventually notice what kind of POB numbers would make build good. POB also lets you add custom modifiers to simulate new content.
The rest is having familiarity with how skills work mechanically and what sort of defenses you can build around them

It's not as obvious as Poe1 but there's already a decent amount of stuff in the acts that you can trade for/convert to Exalts to buy upgrades.

The entire reason they wanted person to person trading is to have a trading endgame that allowed for "buy low sell high" no lifers to get rich taking advantage of people. I know that the stated reason is that if you get all the best gear too easy then the game is too easy, but you can do that now, and SSF mode exists so that argument is just silly and untrue.

The real reason people were against Auction houses was always because it would allow noobs to learn the price of items by looking them up on the AH. they cant do that on the current system because of so many people undercutting market price with bots hoping to buy up someone with a genuine listing at that price. No, the game was a complete mess from the start. It feels like at one point it was a totally different sort of experience but then they realized they should just do poe 1 again. The games are really not that different outside of a few mechanics (like how gems work). There's too many opposing design decisions

I think another big issue nobody talks about are ehp with life flasks. Fundamentally they cannot design encounters that are strategic and significant when you have a button that will near instantly bring you to full health (just about) whenever you want. The only way to make encounters in such a system matter is to design every encounter with the threat of all-out killing you from full health. Players then respond to that threat in the most effective way they can: killing the threat as fast as possible before it 100-0s them. Basically as long as the potential outcomes of every fight with every mob pack is only the binary alive and therefore full hp or completely dead, they are never going to get that "le meaningful combat" they are looking for. They can make balance patches until the end of the earth

ill say it again: they want "dark souls" arpg combat. Well in dark souls (and 2, and not further ironically enough, that series develops a similar issue) you have (in theory) a limited life pool that you need to carry you to the next point of the map, flasks included. A bad player might encounter a hollow and lose half their hp; even though they defeated the enemy this is a loss since this encounter multiplied over the course of the area will cause them to deplete their flasks and die. This method of design doesnt exist in the vast majority of diablolikes, and still doesnt in poe2. If an enemy on poe2 left you with half health after an encounter, it means absolutely nothing in 100% of cases.

The problem with PoE1's tree is you need to balance:
Damage
QoL
Defense
Life/ES

Those are 4 separate things. Life is NOT defense. It is explicitly different. Having 8k life doesn't mean jack with no armor, evasion, max res, or any kind of DR.
With PoE2 you need to primarily just balance two things:
Damage
Defense

QoL is mostly in support gems and there is almost no life on the tree. There is some QoL on the tree you can grab (like MS nodes) but ultimately not taking them just makes a stronger character that is slower or clunkier, which is fine for a new player.

What is the point of having so wast amount of skills when most of them are shit? I understand that GGG don't have time nor manpower to balance them all but half of them are garbage by the virtue of numbers. I played this game for a long time and it is clear as day that half of the time they don't know what they are doing. I remember a league where they nerfed slayer so much that taking node from ascendant was better choice. Instead of nerfing something gradually, they either drop it straight into abyss or let it thrive for some reason for multiple leagues(traps, minions).
The inconsistency of their decisions is what makes me most angry, especially since my preferred playstyle(melee) is the one that gets shit treatment 90% of the time
