>Simplified button inputs
>attacks done with traditional command inputs do more damage
>skilled players willing to learn have an advantage and more options(throw weak attacks when the window for an input is tight)
>casual players have an easier way to get into the game, making the game more popular and getting more support in the future
explain why simplified button inputs are bad?

For many motion inputs, damage is the least important part of it. This can be seen in sf6 with modern reversal, if someone like Modern Luke or Ryu has level 1, you have to play so conservatively, because being too committal means you get tagged by a one button dp or super.

So you want to face noobs that will just go for jab->sweep links? Doesn't this expedite players knowing their specials, and gives you more challenge assuming you're traditional and more proficient?

Yeah? risk-reward is a core part of fighting games, not my fault dopamine chasing creatures still cant do motions with 1000 frames of input buffer

1-button shoryus are decades old, and in modern cases like SF6, they grant less damage, more punishable frames, and less lengthy combos. EX had these, and that game was broken even without them. Tekken 7/8 has them, but the added end-frames to specials are so bad you're basically eating combos not learning how to cancel or combo into specials normally.
It's the biggest nothing burger ever, you might as well should be complaining about TAS bots on Fightcade or online, or actual flowchart scripts from trannoids on PC.

It's bad depending on how you feel about it. Wooooo, easier options for new players. Now every DP is successful and removes the skill in DPing on block. Then you've also got the inability to perform certain actions because it was too hard for a casual player to perform.

The funny thing being most arguments for and against don't come to a fair consensus. If someone moans about simplification reducing a skill ceiling, but higher level play is more dictated around the choices made, then what's the issue with simplification? And there's also the argument "Why even bother adding in simple controls if no one is going to use them?" which is true, and most people playing fighting games aren't joining because of the simplification.

SF5 may not have been as mechanically deep compared to previous iterations, and have specific design changes to make it easier to play, but it also didn't include auto-combos, simple mode, 1 button specials, etc. and it was STILL the most popular fighting game of the last generation, only beaten by Smash Bros till that was removed.

The arguments for and against simplification seem to be myths, as the most popular fighting games of each era don't matter when it comes to how hard or how easy they are to play. It's only is it popular IP that matters AND is it fun.

The person with the correct strategy and response should win. The person who made a mistake should not win just because a guy didn't input a dragon punch correctly even though he made the correct read.
It creates a barrier that has nothing to do with intelligence, thinking, strategy, etc. People dislike this but old timers don't want any change. So the genre continues to be as niche as Asymmetrical horror.

A guy shouldn't win a tournament solely because he got lucky an his opponent dropped a combo. It requires no skill on his part for this to happen.
