I like omnimovement and I like the wacky short-range fights. Spinning around and diving into skirmishes is incredibly fun and there's still time and space for more conventional medium range fighting as long as you're not playing brainrot maps like Stakeout. As far back as COD4 they openly talked about knowing they were never going to be Counter-Strike, so why not embrace going for being the most aggressive shooter?

Who even plays CoD anymore, is it just normie zoomers?
The last Call of Duty I remember renting (kek) was Advanced Warfare on 360, haven't touched one since.
