WW1 was not because of Germany, but rather because of a clusterfuck of criss-crossing alliances between the Old World empires, marching over each other's territory, in order to aid or fight off one or another...
all triggered by the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary in 1914 by a Serbian nationalist.
Germany being literally an in-between state geopolitically, and the main rival of both the Western and Easter empires, ended up being the scapegoat for ALL sides, receiving the heaviest losses and the most expensive reparations, which absolutely soured the German people's trust in their European neighbors.
Afterwards, Hitler and his boyscouts made it their life goal to physically rip the Treaty Of Versailles in pieces and restore Germany back to its former glory. And the irony is, even many Western nations kinda agreed that the punishment landed on Germany was an overkill, so had they "just" invaded France and bits of Poland, unifying the Saxon people and shredded the pact, they might've gotten away with it.
But then they got more insane, and signed the 1939 Molotov-Ribbentrop pact with the Soviet Union, literally splitting the entire continent in two: Nazi Germany would take the Western part for itself, Stalin the Easter part. The agreement also included a non-aggression deal between the two super powers, and together that very same year they would start what would become the WW2, by invading Poland from both sides.
Soviets would then continue by occupying all of the Baltic nations, and threatened to do the same to Finland. Fortunately, Finns fought off relentlessly during the famous "Winter War", and managed to avoid a full-scale occupation, causing massive losses to Ruskies. It is frighteningly similar to what has been going on in Ukraine the past 3 years.
Thanks to Stalin's red army cunts getting rekt'd by the Finn peasants 10 to 1, Hitler would soon start invading Soviet Union instead.
