I even bought the game on steam and bought copies for my friends just to meme them into playing the game before the game was made free. You do not know my levels of autism.
Haze isn't Jake Caro's self-insert. Even though Haze gets his way a lot of the time, he constantly gets shit on and made fun of by more competent characters. A lot of characters treat him with respect but a lot also treat him like a complete joke. Sure Jake probably put some of himself in Haze, as any writer would do, but if Haze were a blatant self-insert he wouldn't get as made fun of as he does. Also Jake does not have self-loathing, from what other devs have said Jake has a massive ego.
Samson (the game's other protagonist) comes off way, WAY more like a self-insert. He's the doctor who's always constantly saying stuff that's trying to come off as deep and every other character takes him seriously and all of the parts with him suck because of it and leaves you wishing Haze was the protag again.
