It feels like the story protects him from all of his bad choices. Like there’s nothing he learns from, nothing happens to him. The only ending you can kill him is a bad one, he’s a psychopath that everyone wants dead but he never reflects on why.

He feels like a precursor to Rick from Rick and Morty. You can tell the writers want to be him (a gay canadian that kills people over nothing and always gets away with it for no reason). He's kind of fun for an hour or two or in short doses, but not when you have to put up with him for like 20+ hours. The writers probably thought they were geniuses when they came up with a character that's just "typical GTA player when not doing missions."

Extremely inconsistent mentally, constant cause of tragedies and actually deserves to be put down. The ending where Frank decides to kill him is sad, but 100% necessary.
As a character he's all right, but the game shouldn't pretend that he's a tragic and sad dude instead of a phycho just because he had a sad childhood.

Option C should've been a "Franklin Dies" ending. Either getting Lamar to kill him or having him die in an alternate version of the foundry shootout. It would've made it an actual choice and I bet you that the "Kill Trevor" ending would've been the defacto default for everybody

Trevor seems like a poorly written character to me. In my opinion, there were two visions for Trevor, and the guys couldn't commit to either one. These two visions alternate, and one possible excuse is that he is so traumatized that he has a "split personality", where he wanders between a violent but more or less functional guy who is loyal and has a code of ethics (albeit a distorted one), and a total psychopathic lunatic who doesn't care about anything and is alive by miracle.
That might work for an NPC, but it doesn't work for the protagonist.

Not really. I was born in 1996. I grew up playing 90s arcade games on my dad's PC. My first console was a psx. The first GTA I ever played was GTA 1.

My second console was a ps2. The third was a gamecube and the fourth was a wii. Then I got a 360 and PS3. I think GTA V was probably one of the last games I ever played on a console before switching entirely to PC.

As you can see, I was blessed to enjoy the golden age of gaming even while everything went to shit. Now I'm 29 and I can only enjoy retro games from 20 years ago.

I just wonder if they'll finally, for the first time ever, have good combat. RDR 1 was probably the most "solid" followed by GTA 4. GTA 5 is some of the worst I've ever seen. The guns feel like peashooters and have no impact behind them and NPC ragdolls are like they all weigh 50 pounds. RDR 2 was alright but the weapon bloom and sway was more of a nuisance than a challenge and it was just like every other Rockstar game where the extent of the shooting is to aim, headshot, aim, headshot over and over.
