The main ground texture really shows why these UEslop remakes of recent games are so shitty. The original is trying to make the best ground texture they can in the time they had, the remake is always trying to cut corners at every turn, they're trying to minimize effort as much as possible, they only make things up to "good enough"
It's just some random ground texture that will only be seen this amount of times, who cares, and it looks so even and spotless and devoid of detail. It produces an image that is somehow LESS than the sum of its parts. Same for how similar all of those games look because they're all using default engine features because they're already there and it looks "good enough" on default settings without further tweaking required.
Meanwhile, on their proprietary engine, no effect gets added unless they need it and since they're adding it it'll look just right for the setting.
An ocean of difference in intent and effort.
