These were my major gripes along with shitty diablo loot and terrible bosses. It's still good, but there's a reason these games sell a few million and souls games sell like 10m+

Nioh 1 is lame. nioh 2 is objectively better in every fucking way when compared to souls slop, with the exception of level designs in some of the souls games. yes even loot, especially loot in the later new game pluses actually, which is not worthless garbage that was relegated to fashion like in souls games

Nioh 2 has better bosses than the entire souls series combined and it's not even a contest. the switching dark phases are awesome and don't suffer from the same "fight phase 1 20 times effortlessly as you master phase 2, fight phases 1 & 2 effortlessly 10 more times as you learn phase 3" garbage padding game design that myazaki's shit suffers from

I cant really dissagre through I enjoyed Nioh1 it is a little clancky at times + enemies/bosses having limited moves and being spammed a little to mutch
But level design complaint is completly valid

Inventory management is anoying I give you that but in endgame it gives a reason for not everyone luking the same

Literaly makes it a ton more fun adding more layers of depth to combat compared to r1 spam jump attack spam weapon art spam

you can enjoy the story without knowing anything about history (kinda like fate) through it isnt too deep.

Good game but it feels like you are playing a challenge game at times.
Nioh 2 is a lot better in every single aspect if you arent done with the series
Nioh 1 7/10 Nioh 2 9/10

The level design is MASTERFUL
play it on acid; you’ll see what I mean. Every map is a giant fractal mandala

nioh is 10, nioh 2 is a 7

>multiple good weapons to choose from with 3 styles of attack each
>fun bosses that each have unique styles to them
>MC that is fucking northern irish VA which is cool
>unlockable combat moves
>gears of war like stamina reload
>a customizable devil trigger based on the animal/creature you equip, with additional utility through magic

idk man souls is a good bread and butter but nioh is more like....well sushi, its precise but has many variations

Try stacking 700% movement speed and using 1kat or spear with evade cancels. Only reason I bother coming back to Nioh 1; that and Iai human loops.

Nioh 2 is one of those games that is such holy levels of good that I immediately ignore any who shits on it. It's like Resident Evil 4 or Super Metroid in that regard.
