Emulated the gba translation. It's good, but between music copywrite and the drag queens it's pretty blatant why an official version would be a terrible idea in this day and age.

I beat most of it back in high school, but the Steel Mechorilla filtered me and I never got around to finishing it. I could probably do it now though.

I played it after learning what emulation was at 12 years old. Its a good rpg considering my ADHD riddled ass was able to beat it but a lot of the subtle story bits went over my head (like the implication that Flint was an alcoholic and beat Lucas/Claus)

Nah , the game is incredibly good , played it ten years ago and I still can't get some of this game out of my head , it's pretty much a step-up from earthbound and is one of the best games on the gba bar none
The soundtrack is some of the most melancholic shit I've ever heard in a video game , it leads such a distinct feeling in all of the tracks and I haven't found another video game that gives me the same type of feel as this game's music did

Has everything to do with the redesign for the GBA. The best aspects of Mother 3 were all the ideas retained from the N64 version. What you have is a neutered summary of what was meant to be a 60 hour game. The magypsies weren't trannies in the N64 game btw. The art we have of them are androgynous in the very sense of the word, and properly look like nature hermits. At this point I don't want a translation, I want a complete remake with all the cut content. When you play it, you can see how it was meant to be 3D.

The meme that Earthbound fans haven't played Earthbound is real.

Reminder that Earthbound was a commercial failure across the world. A lot of people have this idea that Earthbound was only unpopular in the west, but it sold like shit in Japan too. Basically no one played the original release.

Most people don't know how to emulate, which cuts out a huge portion of people. The you have to remember that Earthbound is a 20-40 hour JRPG, which cuts out yet another huge portion of people.

A big reason why people keep claiming every single RPG game in existence is based/inspired by Earthbound is because so many people have so little idea what Earthbound actually is to begin with.

i played it solely because i heard its an inspiration by a lot of rpgmaker games nowadays that got popular. its alright, i didnt really feel like i resonated with the game though.

Yeah, the part where Lucas gets (implied?) raped by a literal tranny was WAY too fucking far. I understood why Reggie changed the subject instantly whenever somebody asked him about Mother 3. Having said that, the gameplay is actually really good. It takes standard 'Dragon Quest' style gameplay, and makes it fun and exciting. Earthbound did that as well, but Mother 3 improved it. But in all other ways, it was a major step back from Earthbound.
