They settled for a very restrictive experience instead. Locking certain things behind certain planets is just so lazy I can't justify it. I get why they would want to try and lock buildings unlocked in planets inside of that planet itself to encourage launching rockets from that planet, but it's such an odd restriction.
And if we can only place Biolabs in Nauvis they chose to restrict Foundries to Vulcanus and Big Miners, too so you have to ship them over.
I get what they were going for, but they went about it in a very un-fun way.
There will be people who defend this shit and they can go ahead but arbitrary restrictions are not innovative. Factorio is most fun when you have the options to fuck around however you want. Moving towards 'optimization' meta is just gay.
Let people do what they fucking want, like damn.
